Redefining the Indian Education System

Tuition India in Delhi

The education system in India has evolved to a greater extent from past few decades but still, we are not able to grow in the way we should be like other developed countries. Though we have established Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), however, we are still involved in those same old learning techniques.

Even today if your child is not able to score 90% in his exams, he is not considered to be competitive in the society and hence labeled as ‘weak’. This system of rote learning is still chasing us and stopping us for being successful in life. The procedure of entrance exams haunts every student before even starting their career since it has become the demand of our education system in order to assess their talent. While other developed nations like US, UK or even China are actually focusing on extra-curricular and co-curricular activities being done by the students to assess their talent and skills, India is still far behind from them.

We are not opposing the schema of conducting those competitive entrance examinations but our education system should understand that this is not the only metric to evaluate oneself. While we need to reward the creativity of students, we are still focusing on the marks being scored by them in their examinations. Due to this reason, the teachers also focus on imparting theoretical knowledge to the students more as compared to exposing them to the practical side of the same coin. The course curriculum must have to be redefined not only in schools but also must be implemented in the colleges and universities also. With this passage of time, we will see tremendous growth in the young minds flowering new evolutionary concepts day by day for the welfare of the society and people.

Solving the same question again and again or proving the same mathematical theorem, again and again, will result in nothing. Yes, it helps to understand the concept better but here in India we usually stop after this step. In fact, the real story begins from here when the learned theoretical concepts are actually implemented in a practical manner to create something new. With the redefining of the curriculum, we seriously need to enhance our educational resources, infrastructure and learning patterns also. Installing new smart devices in schools and colleges for students to understand the basic concepts with animated videos and tools will prove to be beneficial for them only. Small research programs should be started from a young age so that our children’s brains develop in such manner.

And all these things are not very complicated to be implemented in our education system. All we need is some support from our government to start such initiatives as soon as possible and compete with other nations by showcasing our creativity. This issue may not seem to a serious one today, but in future, it will create a lot of chaos when we will have no creative minds left in our hands and the only thing we are left with would be the higher scoring students with no creativity at all.
